New for the 2010 season, RRDOC will be setting up a mini-Ducati Island to give Ducati owners a common place to park their bikes. By parking our bikes together we can provide an easy way for Ducatisti to meet one another, promote the Ducati brand, and show the family spirit of Ducati ownership. Look for the Ducati EZ-Up tent (we'll try to have it at the bottom of the Legion lot in the center rows of spaces each month). For those who don't already know about the "First Sunday" ride-in rally in Ephrata, it's a great way to hook up with friends, meet new ones, and check out hundreds of bikes ranging from clapped out vintage jalopies to fully custom choppers and sportbikes. The American Legion sells a breakfast buffet as well if you're hungry. The ride-in runs from March through November on the......you guessed it......first Sunday of the month, from 8am-11:30am, rain or shine. view map here: http://maps.yahoo.com/?ard=1&mvt%3Dm%26lat%3D40.181509%26lon%3D-76.186924%26zoom%3D18%26q1%3D40.181362%2C-76.186988

Our first Ephrata mini-Ducati Island was yesterday, and by all accounts it was a great success. The turnout wasn't huge due to the continuing presence of snow(there were still 10ft high piles of it all around the parking lot!), but about a dozen Ducs turned out for the day. Friends reconnected after the long winter and a lot of good folks met each other for the first time(a number of whom lived near each other and didn't even know it!), which is what this project is all about. The RRDOC mini-Ducati Island has established itself as a good tool to build the club and riding relationships, as well as the Ducati family. I can't wait for next month!

There is a organized ride this Sunday after the Ephrata Ride In. Covered Bridge Ride for Wounded Warriors. The 45 mile ride will go through 9 covered bridges. Registration from 8 to 11. Ride leaves from the American Legion. $10 donation per person goes to the Wounded Warriors at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC.

I've done the covered bridge tour by car and it's really neat. There are a lot of cool old covered bridges still in use in Lancaster county and if you haven't seen them you should do this ride.

There's one more 'official' meet next Sunday, but I've been told that folks show up all year round even though there's no breakfast after November. Attendance has dwindled so the club tent won't be there next Sunday but some members may still show up. The best next chance to meet some of the guys will be the reception at Ferracci for Paolo(if we get him). Ok everyone, this Sunday, April 3rd is the first Ephrata First Sunday ride-in, since last month was rained out, from 8am-noon. At this point the weather is looking favorable for a good day. For those of you in the Harrisburg area Leo will be leading a group from Koup's parking lot up to the ride-in. He will be departing Koup's at 8am sharp, so if you'd like to ride over with the group meet him there. His plan is to make this a regular thing if it works out for everyone. Hope to see all of you this Sunday!
